because you may be getting this card!!! (Ha…Ha…Ha) mom.jpg

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and there are sooooo many beautiful cards you can make. I love this one because not only do I love the Doodle This stamp set, but I also love this color scheme. It’s so fresh and springy!!!!

The base of the card is So Saffron. Then I layered Basic Black and Certainly Celery DSP. The images are stamped on White and colored in with markers and sponge daubers (for a softer effect), then I inked the edges and spritzed the paper with the color spritzing tool. I also incorporated some Cameo Coral Cardstock into one of the layers. The sentiment(stamped with the Wonderful Favorites set) is embossed using versamark and black embossing powder and I added some sparkle with a little DD (dazzling diamonds) glitter on the center of the flowers and then some ribbon and hodgepodge hardware.

Well, mom, even if you did peek…..you are a WONDERFUL MOTHER and I LOVE YOU!!!!

Happy Mother’s Day and Happy Stampin’ to all the wonderful mother’s out there!!

Did you miss me????  (LOL!!!) Well I’m back from a little stampin’ hiatus.  NO, sadly I was not cruising the high seas with my Stampin’ Up friends, but just taking care of some things on the home front and tirelessly working on my Artisan Award entries.

Actually, my “non-stampin” life (yes, I do have one..LOL) has been quite busy these days.  Spring Cleaning my house has been a must and my “day job” has been taking up a lot of my time.  For those of you who do not know, I work outside the house at a small private school for children with learning differences.  We are winding down the school year, believe it or not, but that means lots of things to do before the summer comes.

I am also very excited to be planning our first trip to see that infamous mouse down south….yes, my husband and I are taking the girls to visit Mickey in May!!!  I’ve purchased two planning guides, looked at countless websites and am overwhelmed by the options. If anyone has any advice, I’ll take it!!!  (btw…the scrapbooking side of my brain has already gone into complete overload at the scrappin’ opportunities I’ll have after this trip!!!!)

Enough about that now and on to what you really want …. some STAMPIN’!!!!!!

crab-copy.jpg

Here’s a card I actually made a while ago using the Crab & Co. set. The water was created using torn pieces of Bordering Blue and Brocade Blue cardstock.  I used some dazzling diamonds glitter to add definition to the “waves” and simply stamped each of the little critters monochromatically on their respective colored cardstock (shrimp - groovy guava, crab - really rust, starfish-more mustard).  The sand is Creamy Caramel and the sentiment is stamped on Really Rust mounted on whisper white (covered in clear chunky glitter) and Night of Navy.  The sentiment makes the crab look like he’s holding a frisbee, which makes no sense, I know…it just turned out that way.  The base of the card is Kraft Cardstock (stamped in Sahara Sand with a Canvas background stamp)  I double mounted the water scene on Whisper White and Night of Navy and added some Groovy Guava ribbon and silver brads to finish it off.

Thanks for looking …. I should have some more cards to post soon….I’ve been practicing my watercoloring techniques!!

This is actually my FIRST EVER ATC (that’s artist trading card for those of you who aren’t familiar.)  These cute little “sample” cards are 2.5×3.5″ in size and you can actually make 10 of them from one sheet of cardstock using Mirkwood Designs template found here.

This one was made for Michelle Giraud’s (aka Twisted Chick) March ATC swap.  If you haven’t checked out her blog…you really ought to do so…it’s awesome.  She provided a sketch and this is what I came up with.  I used the new picnic DSP and Tart & Tangy set from the Ocassions Mini along with Wild Wasabi, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the cherry, then added a little chunky glitter to the sides.  I also added some wild wasabi ribbon and the “thank you” sentiment using the word window punch and a gold brad.

I am also participating in her April Swap, which is a product challenge.  She sent us some materials that we need to use in our design.  They are some far out, funky colors, so check back next month to see what I come up with!!

As you’ve probably already figured out, I’m always up for a good challenge.

Well….in the meantime…..Happy Stamping!!

Here are three quick cards I created to have on hand for birthdays.  The two pink cards were created using a pack of scrapbook papers I bought a while ago and can’t even remember the manufacturer, but I think it was AMM.  The blue card is SU textured  tempting turquoise cardstock and gable green.  I tore and layered strips of the green over some turquoise DSP.  Then I added a simple scallop punch with a sentiment from the So Many Scallops Sale-A-Bration set.  Oh….and I also added some gold brads to the bottom right as a finishing touch.

And the best part is that all three of these cards can be made in under 10 minutes….simple, quick and cute!

Happy Stamping!

I knew I wanted to use this stamp set, Moose You, for Beate’s s sketch challenge this weekend, but when I sat down to figure out what colors I was going to use I realized how much I love, love, love chocolate chip cardstock. The color is just so decadant….like real chocolate, right??? Maybe it’s because I’m hung up on my previous post for the Candy Toss Inspiration challenge, who knows?? Anyway, I paired this decadent chocolate chip cardstock with the new designer series papers, Bali Breeze and Afternoon Tea.

It’s actually a pretty simple card. I stamped the porcupine image on vanilla cardstock and inked the edges, then just layered it onto the dsp’s and chocolate chip cardstock. The base of the card is made from the same layers, but I rolled over the vanilla cardstock with the See You Around jumbo wheel and inked the edges with choc. chip ink. I also ticket corner punched the corners and added some gold brads. The ribbon is a double layer of the satin chocolate chip ribbon (from the old Holiday mini) and vanilla tafetta ribbon over top. I did punch a “slot” into the right side of the porcupine layer to tie the bow.

I almost forgot….I did cover the porcupine in crystal effects (although you really can’t tell from the picture) to make him stand out.

Happy Stamping!!!

p.s. the picture doesn’t quite do this card justice…it blurred and so I had to do a lot of editting with my photo software

doodlecandy.jpg

Saturday’s Inspiration Challenge was to create a card using these pictures for inspiration:

I had so much fun with this one!!! Right away I thought of this bubble gum ice cream I use to get when I was a kid.  It was vanilla ice cream with gum balls that would melt and the colors would run into the ice cream.  I can actually taste it when I look at this card.

I used the Doodle This and Stem Sayings stamp sets for this card along with pretty in pink, pixie pink, ballet blue, gable green and whisper white cardstock.  The faux stitching on the right is done with a paper piercer and white gel pen.  The center of the flowers are  sprinkled with some Making Memories fine pink glitter and the “stems” of my doodle flowers were colored in using SU markers.  I added a rhinestone brad in the sentiment for a little extra bling.

Maybe this card will make you reminisce about some of your favorite childhood memories!!!

Happy Stamping!!!

I’ve been SUPER busy this week working late and trying to get somewhat organized around the house. I did find some time to stamp this evening and will hopefully try to post some pics tomorrow. In the meantime I thought I’d make up for my lack of posts this week with a card I made a while ago and submitted to SU hoping to be chosen as a display stamper for the 2008 Convention. Unfortunately I was not chosen…boo hoo, hoo.

Okay, okay enough of my pity party…LOL!!!

This card was made using the Simply Said stamp set and the Kindness Stampin’ Around Wheel. I love this set as it is so versatile!! I was going for a bright look here as you can see with these bold colors, tempting turquoise, pixie pink and lavender lace. There’s also a touch of gable green inked on the edges of the white cardstock and the black was added to balance out the brightness.

Happy Stamping!!

redtote.jpg

When my mother recently asked me to create a small box or bag to hold a gift card for a wedding shower she had been invited to, I immediately thought of this little “tote.”  Leigh O’Brien is the original creator of this bag and her template is available on Splitcoaststampers.com, but I believe you have to be a FAN CLUB member to download it.  If you are not a member, I do recommend joining.

Anyhow, I was so surprised at how easy this was to make.  I printed the template out directly onto my ruby red cardstock.  Then I stamped my floral pattern (Always stamp set) using versamark ink and embossed it with black embossing powder. Next I cut and scored it along the lines shown and followed the instructions for assembly.  I did use sticky strip to ensure that it would not come apart.  The side tabs and handles are basic black cardstock and as you can see I used gold brads to attach them.  Soooo incredibly simple!!!!  I added the card, which is a 3×3 card with the heart stamp from the same set, also embossed in black.

My mom loved it and more importantly so did the bride!!
